Galley was bought for her excellent bloodlines and abilities. Galley, however, is a spirited, highly intelligent Mare who doesn't mind getting in your face if you try to give her tasks to do. So no one had ridden her here. Hummmm, we'll fix that.
Here, I am attempting to caress her all over with the string attached to the carrot stick. Sacking her out might be another term. More likely, "Checking her Out".
Well, Galley didn't like it one bit. But I continued and kept right at it until she stood still out of boredom! Then I CLICKED !! Har-Har --now we had her attention!! I heard her thinking "OH MY, now I see!!!"

After a long time at this, Galley calmed down and started to really listen to me. I would Click only when she was motionless and relaxed.

Next we worked on flexing and bending.

Then she worked at exploring and kissing me. We're getting somewhere now. Saddle time.

"I said YOU are funny looking, not ME but YOU Galley". She still said I was funny looking. We rode for miles over all sorts of terrain and through the river too. This is a great mare. She has a lot of speed as you would guess. She could walk the whole way back, reins on her neck and stick to the trail. Well, we worked on that and she really did learn to do it all by herself ... I really like Galley!!!
