Stormy is powerful and playful!! Due to over-training by the previous owner, Stormy Cloud was forced to retire very early after winning many races. He's a Great Grandson of the famous "Northern Dancer".

He's also a bit on the "Active" side and was hard to handle by the Black Hills staff members. No one had ridden him and I just couldn't wait.

I just cannot say enough about how impressed I am with his looks and with his abilities.

Wow! Actually on a real-live, famous, race horse! I'm teaching him, and anyone watching, about yielding to the different feeling of the Rope Halter. I like this "Speed" -- Imagine if someone played the tape of a race-start and Stormy started a mile and a quarter sprint??? Better teach him a proper Back-Up Cue right fast ...

Teaching the beginnings of the "Whoa", or the Back-Up. He was standing still but started to walk as he tried to guess what cue was pushing on his nose. I don't mind, he'll catch-on and know when I want motion and when I don't. It just takes time and repetition.

Well, now this is nice. A slow and controlled walk. Wonder how it would feel to point him down a long straight path and, uhhh, say "Git Up!!" and drop the reins ???
