This is Sage . I've worked with her under an hour. I can see that she's now paying attention to many things and is not locked up in fear.
This was another fine LRTC workshop. My Danada crew showed up and really helped! As usual, I can't take pictures because I am working. Thanks to anyone that sends them to me. See WHW99 for a small discussion of the LRTC.
NBC TV is filming Sage and her training. Sage has accepted me as a safe leader and now has become curious with the goings on. I am stooping over as I begin to bend fully down and signal Sage to lower her neck and relax.
Sage is a 4 year old Mustang mare. The BLM re-assigned her to the Larson's due to previous mishandling by the former adopter. She was nearly impossible to catch, even in a stall. Sage would turn to aggression to escape. I worked with Bob Larson and Sage. By the weeks end, Sage was leading through narrow passages and into cement floored offices of the County Ag Center. Through Clicker Training, Sage learned to gleefully raise each of her feet for inspection. Since Bob had done a fantastic job on gentling his first Mustang, Legacy, he had no problems grasping the ways to gentle a troubled horse. Sage left for home with her friends, Bob and Legacy.
A Clinic Student is learning how to use as little pressure, in retaining Sage's attention, as is possible
I am drawing this young colt towards me by being in an unthreatening posture and stepping back. By staying low ,with respect to her height, I cause her to keep her head and neck relaxed.
