As I said, we made many incremental steps. Some failed, many were successful. Here, I am reaching for the halter while Becky steadies it. You must realize that we must not appear "Intent" on something. Nor can we crowd the mustang or he will bolt. We must seem to be doing an event, such as cards, that appears to not involve the mustang. Becky had several little "Voices" she would use to make funny statements to the horse. It was hard to not crack up laughing when she did these impressions.

And here's the gist of the "Game". Becky is to work the Rope Halter closer and closer. Then she's to move it up where one end will dangle to the other side. Next, I will be also "Clicking" for him allowing my right hand to slide up the next. I will grab the end of the halter with one hand and assist Becky in pulling farther up the nose. This took many steps of Clicking and Treating with a bit of Alfalfa Hay. He eventually was diving his nose through the noseband. We dynamically adjusted our training schedule to match what he was offering to us.

Becky is, again, moving the halter up the Mustangs neck. I am actually explaining to the players that the Mustang will put his nose through the noseband which I am holding open .... Surely he can't understand that can he?

With the halter now in place, I tie the knot. We've just had a previously untouched Wild Mustang lead US through haltering him. The time frame, if I had to guess, was 45 minutes to an hour. But then, I don't have a watch as I am still trying to find a sturdy, enclosed pocket-watch.
