Mr. Jealous again. I was working in the pastures and Agrippa was rather bouncy and friendly. Leroy and a few others were waiting in the trees to see what I would do, or not do. When I let Agrippa jump in the back of the truck, Leroy came running out and was barking at him, all typically in a jealous voice. It was funny. Leroy followed the truck back to the barns, barking at Agrippa. But if I tried to lift Leroy into the back of the truck, he tries to bite ... so .... I let him walk and bark at the clever Agrippa.
A particularly severe late July thunderstorm. Leroy usually goes into the grain room. I noticed both he and Lilly and Badger sought refuge in Fiona's stall. Leroy stood guard over Fiona when she was born. So I guess he feels like she's a safe bet during a stressful time? Leroy is UNDER Fiona and she is being careful of him as she looks up at me. She is still a baby Donkey in my mind at nearly two years old.
Leroy looking up from underneath Fiona's grain bucket during the thunderstorm.
Not particularly clear, a foto from my cell-fone. Leroy underneath baby burro, Fiona in a thunderstorm. OK ... she's 18 months old but still my baby, and Leroy's too. See the link
Baby Kittens are Leroy's main purpose in life (sometimes). If any animal ever tries to even look at Leroy's feed bucket in the grain room, he imparts some serious damage to their face. ... Except when it comes to Kittens !!
A little sun bathing on an early December '06 afternoon.
This is Bandit's new friend. She is Anna Mazurek. Anna spent the day taking pictures of Kuvasz working as LGD's in the field. Anna has a Masters in Photojournalism and is completing an article that is going to appear in the "Progressive Farmer" magazine regarding usage of LGD's to protect livestock. She also was well liked by Bandit, seen here ...
Wow, a year later, December 12th 07 and a flood. Lilly is thinking it is wise to wait while a very wet Leroy eats on some free-grazing kibble available to all of them in this barn, for the "duration". He's quite happy up on the hay deck. It is quite dry, free of any breeze, has a water bucket (fresh) and is higher than the barn floor so he can watch everything. He was outside wondering why I was trying to get some miscreants to move.
This is the Donkey barn, hay deck. It's cool in summer and toast warm and dry in the Winter ... well, toasty warm in that there is hay to cuddle in and no breeze.
Here's the old guy unconcerned that there is snow and ice. He's eating a lot, twice a day, has a GREAT appetite. This is February of '08 ... his attitude is great. Leroy has been working the hills with Cato since Abbey died of old age. Leroy is developing some good leg muscles from all the hill work.
